| David Ruoho: Landscape Designer |
 |
David's passion for Landscaping comes initially from a love of architecture. "Early in my life I discovered a love for the artistic process of design and the act of creating something new. Landscape design provided an opportunity to create something that was going to change constantly with the seasons and over time-something architecture does not do. I love that about Landscape design." David says.
David has a flair for the sensible order of nature. With 12 years of design and construction experience, that initial flair for natural settings has broadened into designing English gardens, Native plant landscapes, Pond and water garden settings as well as the use of built structure-free standing walls, pergolas and gazebos.
"Touch, feel & smell are all sensations that bring the landscaping around a house into focus and complete a sense of Home."
Education:
David has a 5 year undergraduate degree in Landscape Design from the University of Minnesota.
A Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from University of Minnesota.
A graduate minor in Water Quality management.
Minnesota Landscape Association Certified Landscape Designer.
Experience:
David has a combined 14 years designing and orchestrating installations for clients. His projects range from natural prairie plantings and gardens to Pergola additions, patios and outdoor rooms.
Interests/ Hobbies:
David loves to turn his backyard into an ice rink in the winter.
In the summer he likes to putter around the house and is constantly playing with his own landscaping along with the capable hands of his wife, Erika.
He loves making his son giggle and his daughters roll their eyes.
David also makes the worlds yummiest Chocolate Chip Cookie-- or so his children tell him.

| Amanda Podoll |
 |
Amanda has designed and worked on a wide variety of projects throughout her career, both commercial and residential, and enjoys working with homeowners to create their ideal space. She likes to use a variety of materials and details to create a design that reaches "outside the box." With a horticultural background, Amanda places a high level of importance on the plant material chosen for a site. The vegetation is one of the final layers in a project and brings life to the space.
A recent graduate from the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Minnesota, Amanda has worked on many different sizes of projects throughout the course of the program. Projects ranged in scale from regional designs to neighborhood and planned unit development (PUD), all the way down to small courtyards.
She has a passion for passion for natural children's spaces, and loves orchestrating a project that melds kids and adult areas together. By creating an environment from loose parts, children are allowed to create their own type of play based on what is happening in their imagination, rather than having a static play experience that will become less interesting as time goes on. Amanda's graduate thesis project explored elementary school play areas and how they could be designed to increase cognitive development in children. This was an interesting and well received project. For more information, just ask!
As a final note, Amanda is the current designer for the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association's State Fair Garden. The garden is currently being reworked and she is excited to be involved in the project.
